U.S. Congress approves $895 billion defense budget for 2025


The U.S. Congress on Wednesday, December 18, approved a draft defense budget of $895 billion for fiscal year 2025.
"There are enough votes in the U.S. Senate to pass the $895 billion defense appropriations bill," CGTV wrote on social network X (formerly Twitter).
The House of Representatives of Congress approved the bill on December 11. Now it is expected that the American President Joe Biden will sign the document in the near future.
On the eve of The Washington Post reported that due to disagreements in the U.S. Congress on Saturday, December 20, the state may face a shutdown (suspension of the federal government).
Before that, on September 25, it became known that the U.S. Senate approved a temporary spending bill that would fund the government until December 20. The majority of senators voted in favor of the bill: 78 votes against 18. In turn, the current American President Joe Biden praised Congress for "managing to avoid a costly government shutdown".
The next day, the leader of the United States signed the approved bill.
