The central beach in the village of Veselovka, Temryuksky district, Krasnodar region, was cleaned of fuel oil after the collision of tankers and fuel spill in the Kerch Strait. This was reported in the operational headquarters for the region on December 18.

"During the day on December 18, volunteers and rescuers completely cleaned from the discarded fuel oil the central beach of the settlement of Veselovka", - stated in the message.

In addition, it was noted that in Temryuksky district removed fuel oil from 2 km of coastal strip, as well as collected almost 5 tons of sand with oil products. No new sites with fuel oil were found.

"From the morning of December 19, volunteers and rescuers will start cleaning beaches near Bugazskaya spit. Collected in bags sand with fuel oil are taken to the territory of licensed enterprises for neutralization and disposal of waste", - reported in the operstab.

Also on December 18, it was reported that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reported that rescuers and volunteers collected about 80 tons of oil products on the Black Sea coast after the accident with tankers in the Kerch Strait.

Governor of the Krasnodar region Kondratiev said that after the oil spill in four settlements of the Kuban introduced a high alert mode, in two municipalities of the region introduced a state of emergency. Specialists have determined the algorithm of cleaning works. The Ministry of Nature, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are instructed to develop and submit a plan to eliminate the consequences of the emergency by December 23.

Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result, there was a spill of oil products. 13 people were evacuated from the first vessel: one of them died, 11 were injured.

Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious because of the death of a sailor.
