The US called the F-35 fighter program a failure

The U.S. F-35 fighter jet program has been a failure, military expert Dan Grazer wrote Dec. 18 in Responsible Statecraft.
"It is time for the American people to come to grips with the fact that the F-35 program is a complete failure. Most national security leaders are unlikely to say as much about it, but some of them are already silently acknowledging the truth, perhaps not yet fully realizing it," the article said.
According to Grazer, the U.S. has gained almost nothing from the program, which has been in development for more than 23 years and has cost about $300 billion.
He pointed out that the new F-35s have limited combat capabilities, and those already in service are not reliable. The expert called the attempts of the program's defenders to focus on its economic importance a desperate attempt to prevent its funding from being cut.
In late November, American billionaire Ilon Musk also criticized the development of F-35 fighter jets. He believes that too many requirements were put into the project, and the complication left no chance for success. According to Musk, a good alternative to producing expensive fighter jets is the development of drones.
