Trump's special envoy for Ukraine calls Kirillov's killing an unwise move by Kiev

The assassination of the head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces (RCDBZ) of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Igor Kirillov, was not a reasonable step on Kiev's part. This was stated by the special envoy of US President-elect Donald Trump on Ukraine Keith Kellogg on December 18.
"I don't think it was smart," - noted Kellogg on air of the TV channel Fox News.
At the same time, he expressed the opinion that the death of the chief of the Russian Chemical Defense Forces will not affect the possible organization of peace talks between Kiev and Moscow. In his opinion, both sides of the conflict are ripe to discuss its end.
"I don't think this event is really a step backwards, but I will say this: there are rules of engagement <military operation>, and there are certain things that just don't do," Trump's special envoy said.
Earlier in the day, Amedeo Avondet, leader of the United Italy political movement, told Izvestia that the deaths of Lieutenant General Kirillov and his aide Ilya Polikarpov in a terrorist attack show the real face of the Kiev regime. According to Avondet, Kiev uses terrorist attacks because it cannot succeed on the front lines and is desperate.
At the same time, the FSB reported the detention of a 29-year-old Uzbek citizen in the case of the murder of Kirillov and his assistant. During interrogation, the attacker said that he had been recruited by the Ukrainian security services. He could face punishment up to life imprisonment.
Kirillov and his assistant were killed on the morning of December 17 as a result of detonation of an explosive device, which was placed in a scooter near the entrance of a residential building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. A criminal case of murder, terrorist act and illegal arms trafficking has been opened. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences over the incident.
State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the United States had nothing to do with the terrorist attack. Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder made the same statement.
