A Muscovite of retirement age transferred almost 900 thousand rubles to the account of fraudsters, who guaranteed him the receipt of "inheritance" from the Togolese Republic (Togo) in Africa. This was reported by the source of "Izvestia" on December 18.

The man in mid-October sent a letter to an unknown person who introduced himself as an employee of a foreign bank. He said that the pensioner could be given a bank card with $1.8 million of inheritance from Togo.

However, as the fraudsters said, in order to get the funds, the Muscovite must first pay himself. After that, the man, who has a disability, transferred his savings to the account of the swindlers. The damage is estimated at 887 thousand rubles. Law enforcement authorities are conducting a check.

Before that, on December 14, a source of "Izvestia" said that in St. Petersburg, fraudsters stole more than Br34 million from a pensioner. A woman born in 1954 told law enforcers that unknown persons called her, introduced themselves as FSB officers and claimed that they would bring her to criminal responsibility for allegedly transferring money to Ukraine. In such a fraudulent way they forced her to withdraw more than 34 million rubles from her and her husband's accounts. After that she transferred the money to unknown couriers at several addresses in the city. A criminal case was opened under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group or on a particularly large scale").
