Chernyshenko spoke about the elaboration of the Education Development Strategy

Representatives of all 89 subjects of Russia are involved in the elaboration of the Education Development Strategy. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko on Wednesday, December 18.

"At the moment, representatives of all 89 subjects of the Russian Federation are involved in the development of the Strategy. In total, more than 650 experts: these are representatives of education, business communities, development institutions and authorities, as well as scientists, public figures and parents. This is an unprecedented large-scale work in the recent history of Russia", - he said at the meeting devoted to the development of the Strategy of Education Development for the period up to 2036 with a perspective up to 2040.

He noted that the goal is to create a modern and flexible education system that meets national needs to achieve sovereignty and leadership, with mandatory consideration of citizens' opinions.

Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education, said that the preparation of the Education Development Strategy will be widely discussed at the meeting of the Russian Union of Rectors on January 24-25, 2025.

"One of the key challenges for the entire education system is related to the quality and quantity of training of appropriate qualified personnel. It is necessary to build the work in such a way that the gap between the higher education system and the labor market, was minimal. This implies quite serious adjustments in the portfolio of educational programs of universities, in the work of the entire infrastructure related to state educational standards and the need to make operational changes. We plan to take all these issues into due account in the Strategy," he said.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov and head of Rosmolodezh Grigory Gurov.

Earlier, on December 13, Chernyshenko said that Russia is among the top ten countries in terms of education quality and among the top five in terms of international school Olympiads. He noted that despite the achievement of such serious results, the development of the education sector would not stop.
