The doctor told about the harms of drugs with aminophenyl butyric acid

The use of preparations with aminophenyl butyric acid carries a high risk of addiction, as well as a number of pronounced side effects. Therefore, they should be dispensed strictly on a doctor's prescription. Elena Alekentseva, a general practitioner and pediatrician at INVITRO-Voronezh, told Izvestia on December 18 about the harm of over-the-counter drugs with aminophenyl butyric acid.
"Such drugs act as psychostimulant, antiaggregant, antioxidant, tranquilizing agents. They facilitate the transmission of nerve impulses in the CNS, have a slight antiparoxysmal effect, that is, they reduce the manifestation of such neurological symptoms as migraine, dizziness, fainting, panic attacks, seizures, epileptic seizures," notes Alekentseva.
According to her, doses of aminophenyl butyric acid contained in dietary supplements can cause a variety of disorders of the digestive system, nausea, allergic reactions, and, most importantly, hepatotoxicity, that is, a negative effect on the cellular structure of the liver. Such risks can significantly impair the functioning of this organ.
"Drugs with aminophenyl butyric acid are prescription drugs. Uncontrolled use of drugs with this active substance can lead to side effects: hepatoxicity, disruption of the GI tract, various allergic reactions, mental instability, severe headaches. Prolonged overdose can be fatal, like any psychostimulant," the doctor said.
According to the specialist, the use of such drugs carries a high risk of addiction and many noticeable side effects. Because of this, they should only be prescribed by a doctor. Uncontrolled use can lead to overdose.
Earlier, on December 3, the head of the department of treatment of borderline mental disorders and psychotherapy № 9 NMIC of psychiatry and neurology named after V.M. Bekhterev. V.M. Bekhterev Russian Ministry of Health Yulia Kolesova told "Izvestia" how to improve well-being in winter with the help of dietary supplements. According to her, B vitamins such as B1, B6 and B12 are involved in energy production, and it is recommended to take complex supplements to support metabolism and prevent fatigue.
