The number of people injured in a train accident in the Murmansk region has risen to 10

The number of people injured in the collision of a passenger train Murmansk - St. Petersburg and a freight train has risen to 10. This was reported by a source of "Izvestia" on December 18.

Preliminarily, three of the injured are in serious condition, the other seven - in a state of moderate severity. Three ambulance crews are already working at the site, nine more have been sent. In addition, the departure of the Mi-8 helicopter of the Center for Sanitary Aviation (CSA) is planned

It is noted that four cars of the passenger train were damaged, there were 161 people in them, including 32 children.

Izvestia correspondent from the scene reported that almost all the injured were evacuated. Those passengers who were not injured were moved to other cars. Some people left the scene of the collision of the trains on their own.

Thecollision of two trains occurred earlier in the day at the arrival of a passengertrain at the station Knyazhaya in the Murmansk region. Preliminarily, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars went off the rails.

The footage from inside the train shows passengers trying to move from one car to the next, but they failed because the inter-car doors were damaged and jammed. Some people were forced to evacuate outside in light clothing in the freezing cold because they were unable to retrieve their belongings.

Passenger Yulia, who was in the dining car at the time of the accident, said that the ceiling and compartment doors collapsed in one of the carriages. The girl added that the situation at the scene is calm, passengers are being assisted.

After the collision of the trains, the transport department of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of railway transport").
