A criminal case on violation of safety rules in the operation of railway transport has been initiated after a collision of trains in Murmansk region. This was reported on December 18 by the Western Interregional Investigative Department on transport of the IC of Russia.
"Murmansk investigative Department on transport of the Western interregional investigative Department on transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on the fact of the incident with passenger and freight trains initiated a criminal case on the signs of a crime under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of railway transport")", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
At the moment the circumstances of the incident are established.
Thecollision of two trains occurred earlier in the day at the arrival of a passengertrain at the station Knyazhaya in the Murmansk region. Preliminarily, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars went off the rails. Information about the victims is being clarified. Medics and rescuers went to the scene.
The footage from inside the train shows passengers trying to move from one car to the next, but see that the inter-car doors were damaged and jammed. Some people had to evacuate outside in light clothing because they were unable to take warm clothes from the train.
