The Ministry of Nature, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been instructed to develop and submit a plan to eliminate the consequences of the accident with tankers in the Kerch Strait by December 23. The corresponding instruction was given by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev on December 18.

The algorithm of actions should be drawn up by the agencies in cooperation with the governor of the Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratyev and the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov.

"When developing the plan, the participants of the working group should take into account the most effective ways and methods of eliminating the consequences of pollution of coastal territories, including on the sites of specially protected natural areas of regional and federal importance, as well as the amount of forces and funds required for this," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the government.

Savelyev also urged to take into account the peculiarities of transportation and disposal of contaminated soil, including the definition, equipment and certification of appropriate sites.

Earlier on December 18, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that rescuers and volunteers collected about 80 tons of oil products on the Black Sea coast after the emergency with tankers in the Kerch Strait. More than 8.1 km of coastline was cleaned with increasing total. At the moment about 2.7 thousand people are involved in liquidation of oil products spill.

Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result, there was a spill of oil products. The first vessel evacuated 13 people: one of them died, 11 were injured. All 14 crew members were evacuated from the tanker Volgoneft-239 on Monday. Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious because of the death of a sailor.

Governor of Krasnodar region Kondratiev said that after the oil spill in four settlements of the Kuban introduced a high alert mode. Later, on December 17, he specified that after the accident with two tankers fuel oil was carried ashore for dozens of kilometers, two municipalities of the region introduced a state of emergency. Specialists have determined the algorithm of cleaning works.

Andrei Potakhov, acting head of the Emergency Situations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Krasnodar Krai, said that the fuel oil spilled in pockets and the cleanup of the contaminated areas is complicated by the storm, which brings oil products from the sea.
