"Izvestia" on Wednesday, December 18, publishes footage from a passenger train Murmansk - St. Petersburg, which collided with a freight train in the Murmansk region.
In the footage from inside, passengers are trying to move from one carriage to the next, but they see that the inter-carriage doors have been damaged and jammed. Some passengers had to evacuate outside in light clothing because people were unable to take warm clothes from the train.
Video from outside shows that the coupling of both trains broke after the cars derailed. At least one freight car overturned, one of the derailed passenger cars has a crumpled wall.
Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis said in his Telegram channel that four more ambulance crews had arrived on the scene in addition to the three ambulance crews already dispatched, and reserve crews were being formed.
"On my instruction, the head of the Kandalaksha district is going to the place. The preparation of places of accommodation is being organized," Chibis wrote.
Thecollision of two trains occurred earlier in the day at the arrival of a passengertrain at the station Knyazhaya in the Murmansk region. Preliminarily, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars went off the rails. Information about the victims is being clarified.
Chibis reported that on the scene, in addition to medics, rescuers have left. Kandalaksha transport prosecutor's office after the accident with trains organized an inspection of compliance with the rights of passengers and legislation on the safety of train operation.
