A passenger train and a freight train collided in the Murmansk region. This was reported in the press service of Russian Railways on December 18.

"At 16:15 Moscow time when arriving at Knyazhaya station (Murmansk region) there was a side collision of passenger train No. 11 Murmansk - St. Petersburg (326 passengers) with cars of a freight train," - the company said in a message in Telegram-channel.

According to preliminary data, three carriages of the passenger train, as well as freight cars went off the rails. Information about the injured is being clarified.

Traffic on this site is suspended. To eliminate the consequences of the derailment, recovery trains from Kandalaksha and Kem stations have been sent, the press service added.

Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis in his Telegram-channel said that rescuers and three ambulance crews had arrived at the scene.

On this fact Kandalaksha transport prosecutor's office organized an inspection of compliance with the rights of passengers and the implementation of legislation on the safety of movement and operation of trains, according to the message of the North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office in Telegram-channel.

Earlier, on December 16, in Vanino district of Khabarovsk region, a locomotive in a train collided with a rectifying and paddling machine. It was in an oversized place on the parallel track. As a result of the incident, no one was injured, the tracks were not damaged. Traffic on the road section was restored.
