Two Tu-95MS missile carriers flew over neutral waters near Alaska


Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of long-range aviation of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) have performed a scheduled flight over neutral waters near the western coast of Alaska. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 18.
The flight was performed in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Bering and Chukchi Seas and lasted more than 15 hours.
It is noted that the fighter escort was provided by crews of Su-35S and Su-30SM aircraft of the Russian Air Force.
The day before, two long-range Tu-22M3 bombers of the Russian Air Force made a scheduled flight in the airspace above the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. The flight duration was more than five hours, and the fighter escort was provided by the crews of Su-30SM and Su-27 aircraft of the Russian Air Force.
Long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral territories of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific, Black and Baltic Seas. The flights are performed in strict compliance with international rules of airspace utilization.
