Two border guards in Ukraine's Transcarpathian Region went on duty and escaped from the country. This was reported by the Ukrainian daily Strana.ua on December 18.

It is specified that the incident occurred in September this year.

"Convicted for negligent attitude to military service in this case was an inspector of the border service, who was supposed to contact the border guards every half an hour, but did not do so, and fabricated entries in the journal", - stated in the Telegram-channel.

According to the publication, he was fined $400. According to the inspector, his subordinates have already made attempts to escape.

Earlier, on December 17, the media reported that in some units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) the number of deserters exceeds the number of wounded and killed. At the same time, new recruits in the AFU are poorly trained, and there is no time to train the servicemen at training grounds.

Prior to that, on November 20, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported about the escape of 10 soldiers of the Ukrainian army from positions in Kharkiv region. According to military expert Andriy Marochko, unable to withstand the onslaught, some Ukrainian fighters arbitrarily left their positions and fled in the direction of Novosergeyevka.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in February 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
