Russia has not yet received an aggreeman from the United States for the new ambassador to Washington. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters on December 18.

He drew attention to the fact that not much time has passed since this request was sent.

"Not yet, but little time has passed since the request for an aggreeman was sent," the diplomat said.

Earlier, on November 24, the media published information about the probable appointment of Alexander Darchiev, director of the Foreign Ministry's North America Department, to the post of Russian ambassador to the United States. However, the Russian Foreign Ministry refused to publicly comment on this candidacy.

On October 5, Anatoly Antonov finished his work as Russia's ambassador to the United States and left the American territory. He had held this position since August 21, 2017.

Prior to that, on September 13, Antonov expressed the opinion that the upcoming presidential election in the United States will not change the negative background in Russian-American relations, as Washington is not ready for serious negotiations. According to him, Russia should now strive to create a multipolar system of international relations.
