Ex-defense deputy minister Bulgakov's arrest extended until March 25

Basmanny court of Moscow extended the period of detention of former Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov, as well as defendants in the case German Yakovlev and Gennady Seleznev, accused of fraud on a large scale, until March 25, 2025. This was reported by a correspondent of "Izvestia" from the courtroom on Wednesday, December 18.
The session was held in closed mode.
According to investigators, during Bulgakov's work, a system of supplying poor-quality food to the troops at an inflated cost was created, within the framework of which the general himself could illegally receive funds.
It is specified that in November the court refused to release the former deputy defense minister from the pre-trial detention center.
Bulgakov himself said during the hearing that he considers the charges against him a "terrible mistake."
The detention of Dmitry Bulgakov became known on July 26. As specified in the IC of Russia, the general is a defendant in a criminal case of corruption and placed in the detention center "Butyrka". According to Bulgakov's income declaration, he earned 15.2 million rubles in 2018. He was also going to be checked for involvement in actions related to the embezzlement of 400 million rubles in the execution of state contracts "Voentorg".
September 24, the general's arrest was extended until December 25. The detention of his accomplices - Yakovlev and Seleznev - was extended for the same period. According to the investigation, the defendants were involved in the supply of low-quality soup rations at an inflated price to the Russian troops.
