Court sentences murderer of journalist Legoyda's father to life imprisonment

Moscow Regional Court sentenced the murderer of the father of journalist Vladimir Legoyda's father Adam Shcherbakov to life imprisonment. This is reported by Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom on December 18.

"He (Shcherbakov. - Ed.) was found guilty of committing robbery, murder of a person, knowingly for the perpetrator being in a helpless state, committed with robbery, hijacking, as well as the forgery of two passports of a citizen of the Russian Federation", - concluded the prosecutor of the department of state prosecutors of the criminal and judicial department of the criminal and judicial department of the Prosecutor's office of the Moscow region Victoria Sautova.

At the interrogation, the man admitted guilt and apologized to the victim, at the same time stating that he did not intend to kill the journalist's father. He noted that he wanted to rob the pensioner and steal a car, but the man was able to fight back.

The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation opened acriminal case over the murder of a 90-year-old man, whose body was found in Vidny near Moscow, on December 29, 2023.

The next day, the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk said that the suspect in the murder was detained. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation specified that the man attacked Roman Legoyda with the purpose of robbery, after the murder he stole 100 thousand rubles from the pensioner, and left his body by the roadside near the SNT "Meshcherino-Churilkovo".
