- A German political scientist expressed doubts about the usefulness of Merz's policies for German citizens

Christian Democratic Union (CDU) candidate for chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz is unlikely to pursue a policy in the interests of citizens and will continue the course of economic destruction of Germany. This assumption was shared by German political scientist and economist Ike Hamer in a conversation with Izvestia on December 18.
"I very much doubt that we will see here a policy in the interests of German citizens or citizens of Europe, but I am afraid that the course of globalists for the demise and economic destruction of Germany and the course for discord on the Eurasian continent will continue," he said.
He also emphasized that people who find it more profitable to leave Germans without the Nord Stream pipeline are gathered in the German government because they are deeply involved in ties with the US and NATO.
"People who are so deeply involved in transatlantic networks, NATO or US networks are gathered here that they don't want this gas pipeline, they don't want Europe's prosperity, they don't want peace in Europe, they want to keep Germany down, which is the principle of NATO," the interlocutor of the publication shared.
In his opinion, the restoration of Nord Stream is possible only in case of capitulation of Ukraine, neutrality of Germany and concessions of the United States in relation to Russia.
Also on this day, Bundestag deputy from the party "Union of Sarah Wagenknecht" Klaus Ernst called for negotiations with Russia on gas supplies to Germany through the remaining section of the "Nord Stream". According to the deputy, Berlin should not adjust its political course to the policy of Washington, which is responsible for the crisis in Germany.
Earlier, on November 25, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel pointed out that the rejection of Russian gas had caused significant damage to German business and industry. She noted that certain agreements had been reached with current U.S. President Joe Biden on the use of Nord Stream 2 if the energy resources were not used as a weapon. "As a result, gas never went through Nord Stream-2," Merkel concluded.
In September it was reported that the German industry is experiencing the most serious decline for the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany. According to experts, the dynamics of industrial production in Germany is unprecedented in historical terms. At the same time, the newspaper Politico reported that German residents can no longer ignore the fact of a serious crisis in the country's economy, because of which there is tension in society.
