Nazism is flourishing in the West and Ukraine, which became evident against the background of the results of the vote on the Russian Federation's resolution at the UN General Assembly on combating the glorification of Nazism and neo-Nazism - the USA, Germany, Italy and Ukraine spoke out against it. Alexei Zhuravlev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, pointed this out in a conversation with Izvestia on December 18.

The UN General Assembly adopted the Russian Federation's resolution on combating neo-Nazism the previous day. The document was supported by the majority of countries - 119 out of 182. Another 10 countries abstained.

"The layout is really indicative - in fact, on one side of the barricades in this matter was the global West, including Ukraine, where just Nazism and thrives now especially bright and wide, and on the other - the rest of the world," - commented Zhuravlev.

Thus, he noted, it is in the West that Nazism is now raising its head again, and its manifestations include attempts to abolish Russian culture in Europe and the United States. The deputy emphasized that in the countries of the West openly demonstrated Nazi symbols, praised associates of Nazi Germany.

"Nazi-like organizations are created, terrorizing even their own population, settling scores with those who oppose Nazification. The apotheosis is just the Kiev regime, where Stepan Bandera has been made a hero of Ukraine, and normal people are definitely not on the way with such ideological attitudes," the interlocutor concluded.

Earlier, on November 11, a committee of the UN General Assembly adopted a Russian resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism. Dozens of states, including Armenia, Belarus, China, Mali, DPRK, Serbia and South Africa, co-sponsored the resolution. The document contains a call to prevent the distortion of historical truth and to reject all forms of racial discrimination.

Before that, on September 11, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a report on the glorification of Nazism among 40 countries, which included Ukraine. Then Zakharova appealed to international organizations with a request not to turn a blind eye to the crimes committed by Ukraine on the territory of the Russian Federation and to give them an appropriate assessment.

Later, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted the absence of a Western reaction to the report. According to the diplomat, the West will give a reaction to the report when journalists ask about it. However, in the conditions of persecution, application of the culture of abolition and mass arrests, such a development is practically impossible.
