Russians named the most popular snakes from fairy tales and movies


Snake Gorynych has become the most popular snake character among Russians. This is stated in the results of a survey by analysts of the Zen content platform, which were read by Izvestia on December 20.
Almost half of the respondents said that they know fictional snakes from cartoons. The most popular character Russians named Snake Gorynych from the Russian epic and cartoons of the Russian franchise "Three Bogaityrs" (50%), in second place - Nag and Nagaina from "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" (33%), and the third was Kaa from "The Jungle Book" (26%).
The most favorite snake of Russians is Kaa from "The Jungle Book". 30% of respondents appreciated the positive qualities of the character from Kipling's stories. The top 3 also included Master Viper from "Kung Fu Panda", 28% of respondents like him, and Serpent Gorynych: 20% of respondents voted for him.
Experts found out that the most disliked snake was Basilisk from Harry Potter books and movies: 28% of Russians consider the character negative. Indian cobras Nag and Nagaina from Rudyard Kipling's story and the Soviet cartoon of the same name "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" are the second most recognized (22%) in Russia snakes-villains. Snake Gorynych came third in the anti-rating: 19% of respondents consider him a negative character.
At the same time, almost 40% of the survey participants expressed the opinion that snakes in works of art are insidious and cruel. One third of Russians (27%) noted the wisdom and prudence of such characters, and another third (29%) noted their cold-bloodedness. At the same time, almost half of respondents are afraid of snakes in real life.
Earlier, on December 10, it was reported that snake-shaped souvenirs are bought more willingly than products with a dragon a year earlier. This follows from the data available to "Izvestia" analytical center "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD". The average check for souvenirs in the form of a snake amounted to 483 rubles, the analysts calculated. The number of purchases is higher by 11% compared to souvenirs in the form of a dragon - the symbol of 2024. The most popular souvenirs were figurines, magnets, key chains.
