The average CMTPL insurance payout has increased in Russia

The average payment on CMTPL insurance in November this year amounted to Br99.93 thousand, which is 10.4% more than last year. This is stated in the report of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RIA), which was received by "Izvestia" on December 18.

The average premium in November amounted to 7,539 rubles, which is 4.6% lower than the average premium in November last year and 6.5% less than in January 2024.

According to the head of RAMI Evgeny Ufimtsev, the growth of the average payment is still connected with the situation with spare parts, with their logistics in the sanctions regime and shortages for some brands. The reasons for the decrease in the average premium is the high competition between insurers for break-even car owners, which appeared due to the individualization of tariffs in CMTPL insurance, he said.

The average premium for MTPL insurance at the end of 11 months of 2024 amounted to 7644 rubles (- 2.1% year-on-year). The average payment at the end of 11 months amounted to almost 99.5 thousand rubles (+12.4%).

The number of concluded contracts for this period amounted to 40.3 million pieces (+6.4%). Of these, 762 thousand were issued for short-term policies, the average premium amounted to Br388. Also from January to November, 27 million policies of electronic MTPL were sold, which is 15% more than a year earlier in the same period.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the first regions, where will launch the check of CMTPL insurance with the help of road cameras of photo-video fixation, will be Moscow, Sverdlovsk and Volgograd regions. According to the head of the JSC "National Insurance Information System" Nikolai Galushin, all passing cars without exception will fall under the check of MTPL insurance with cameras. Previously, it was assumed that checking the presence or absence of a policy would accompany the fixation of any other traffic violation.
