The European Parliament's anti-Russian resolution adopted at the end of November is a disgrace, Greek parliamentary deputy speaker from the Helleniki Lisi ("Greek Solution") party Vasilios Viliardos said on December 18.

"What it contains is an outrage even to a neutral observer," RIA Novosti quoted Viliardos as saying.

In his opinion, the resolution looks almost like a call for World War III, as in it the EU says it will continue to provide military and economic support to Ukraine despite Russia's possible response.

At the same time, the politician pointed out that the text did not mention the danger of a direct NATO attack on Russia and the consequences for European citizens, nor did it set out a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Williardos called the document shameful for the European Union, which considers itself a civilized region.

The resolution in question was adopted on November 28 and published on the website of the European Parliament. In particular, the deputies called for additional sanctions against Russia and the extension of long-term support for Ukraine. It was also proposed to increase deliveries of airplanes and long-range missiles to Kiev.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. However, the West has recently been increasingly vocal about the need to reduce support for Ukraine.
