Dozens of illegal buildings on the banks and island of the Volchikha Reservoir are being dismantled in Yekaterinburg. The demolition of objects was approved by the mayor of the city Alexei Orlov, reports the press service of the mayor's office on Wednesday, December 18.

We are talking about 59 fishermen's houses. They are located in the sanitary protection zone of one of the important sources of drinking water for the residents of the Urals capital.

The contractor must perform demolition work until March 31, 2025. The execution of the mayor's resolution will be controlled by the head of Verkh-Isetsky district Andrei Morozov.

According to the Ura.ru news agency , the Vodokanal MUP applied to the mayor's office with a request to dismantle the buildings at the end of August 2024. They are located in the water protection zone, which threatens the quality of water coming into the city.

Earlier it was reported that in 2025 in Ekaterinburg will begin construction of an above-ground subway. The railroad line will run from the station "Compressor Plant" to the station "Koltsovo Airport".
