France may hold early presidential elections due to the unstable position of the country's leader Emmanuel Macron. This was stated by the head of the parliamentary faction of the National Union party Marine Le Pen in an interview with Le Parisien newspaper on December 17.

"The situation is very fragile. Problems can come even from the center bloc itself, which can contradict the prime minister or the financial markets. There are many reasons that could push Emmanuel Macron to surrender his mandate," she said.

Le Pen noted that the reason for Macron's departure may not be his personal qualities, but a systemic crisis of power. In her opinion, the French leader has lost control over the situation in the country, including no longer being able to appoint the prime minister, who, she said, appointed himself. Macron has also lost influence on the international stage, Le Pen added.

The day before, data from a La Dépêche poll showed that three-quarters of French residents consider the current head of state a bad president. It was noted that Macron is not appreciated, including political parties, excluding his own. According to the survey, he is considered a bad leader by 86% of supporters of the left-wing "Unconquered France", as well as 94% of respondents - associates of the right-wing "National Association".

France's National Assembly (lower house of parliament) passed a resolution of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier on December 4. 331 deputies voted in favor of the vote of no confidence. Nicolas Dupont-Eignan, leader of the "Stand Up France" party, cited Macron's financial chaos and his commitment to U.S. President Joe Biden as the reason for the loss of confidence in him.

The next day, during an address to the nation, Macron said he had no intention of leaving the presidency before the end of his term in 2027. He also reminded that he would not be able to run for re-election.

On December 6, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, founder of the Unconquered France party, said that Macron does not understand how parliament works. According to Mélenchon, the French president should resign in order for the people to go to the presidential election.
