The Leningrad Zoo showed the citizens one of the most unusual snakes - the nosy snake Boulanger. Photos of the reptile were published in the Telegram-channel of the institution.

The snake stands out thanks to its "nose" - a kind of shields bent upward. The reptile feeds on small rodents, birds and other small vertebrates.

Boulanger's polosas live in mountainous rainforests and rocky areas of southern China and northern Vietnam. "Green unicorns" are usually nocturnal, hiding near bodies of water or in tree branches.

According to TV channel "78", the zoo is home to a pair of nosy stripes, which had cubs in the summer. These snakes are born brownish-gray with dark stripes on the sides. During the first 12-14 months they acquire gray coloring with a steel cast, and become completely green only by the age of two years.

Earlier in December, the Leningrad Zoo showed how kangaroos met the first snow. The animal lives in the south of Australia, but there is also cold weather there.

The Leningrad Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in Russia. It started its work back in 1865. The zoo survived the revolution and the blockade of Leningrad. Now the Leningrad Zoo is home to about 600 species of mammals, birds, fish and invertebrates from different parts of the world.
