FSB seized about 1.4 tons of illegally caught fish in Rostov region


Russian Federal Security Service officers seized 1.4 tons of illegally caught fish from a resident of Neklinovsky district of Rostov region. This was reported in the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation on December 18.
It is specified that over 13.5 thousand specimens of fish of various species, including shemaya, sterlet, pilengas, taran, goby, pike-perch, were found and seized on the coast of Taganrog Bay of the Azov Sea in a truck. All fish was without documents confirming the legality of its origin.
According to the agency, preliminary, the damage to aquatic biological resources may exceed 24 million rubles.
On this fact, an inspection has been organized, the results of which will be taken a procedural decision.
Earlier, on December 12, the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Kalmykia and the Astrakhan region reported that employees of the border department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Astrakhan revealed and seized 2.6 tons of illegally caught fish of sturgeon species, thus preventing the criminal trafficking of valuable aquatic bioresources. Three local residents stored sturgeon carcasses in outbuildings and production facilities.
It is noted that the fish lacked documents confirming the legality of its origin.
