A Brazilian mercenary was prosecuted for crimes in Kursk region

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case against a mercenary from Brazil Lukas Ribeiro de Jesus for committing crimes in Kursk region. This was reported on December 18 in the official Telegram-channel of the agency.

According to the investigation, the Brazilian mercenary is directly involved in hostilities on the side of armed formations of Ukraine. He illegally crossed the Russian border and invaded the territory of the Kursk region in September 2024.

"After the invasion Ribeiro de Jesus used torture and physical violence to two Russian servicemen, and then killed them," - stated in the message of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee.

It is noted that the investigation is taking measures to establish the whereabouts of the figure and his accomplices.

Earlier, December 10, Kursk regional court sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison 36-year-old citizen of New Zealand Jordan O'Brien, accused of participation in the conflict on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to the investigation, in August 2024, the man illegally entered the Kursk region, where he took part in military operations as part of the AFU. For this, he received a reward equivalent to more than 1.3 million rubles, which was confiscated.
