The State Duma passed in the first reading a draft law on fines of up to 2 million rubles for the sale of vape devices to children

The State Duma at the plenary session passed the first reading of the bill, which provides for a system of fines for the sale of tobacco products, vapes and hookahs to children up to 2 million rubles. This was reported on December 18 on the website of the State Duma.

The fine for the sale of tobacco, vape, electronic cigarettes and hookahs to children for ordinary citizens will be up to 200-300 thousand, for officials - up to 500-700 thousand, for legal entities - up to 1.5-2 million.

In case of repeated violations, criminal liability is provided for.

And for the first case of selling nicotine-containing products they plan to increase fines

Earlier, on December 10, the State Duma at the plenary session adopted in the first reading a bill proposing to introduce criminal punishment for repeated sale of vapes, other products with nicotine and devices for its consumption to children. The initiative was submitted to the Duma in November and proposes to amend Article 151.1 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Retail sale of alcoholic beverages to minors").
