Dealer named car brands that may leave Russia in 2025
In 2025, some Chinese automobile brands may leave the Russian market. This opinion was expressed by Nikolay Ivanov, Director of the New Car Department of Rolf Company. He listed these brands, reports the agency "Autostat" on December 18.
"As for the likelihood of some Chinese brands leaving our market, the main reason for leaving is low dealer profitability. In some brands there may be a collapse of the dealer network. I think, with high probability, these are Livan, Kaiyi, SWM, Foton brands. Dealers have stopped investing in these brands," Ivanov said.
According to Alexander Shaprinsky, commercial director of the Pragmatica dealerships network, in 2025 some Chinese brands with minimal customer base will leave the Russian Federation due to lack of demand, the restraining factor for their development will be the overabundance of similar models on the market.
As Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of Avtodom dealership holding, noted, small players with sales volumes of less than 3 thousand cars per year will be under the pressure of the current situation. Some brands will be frozen or temporarily stop operating in our country.
On December 13, it was reported that from January to November 2024, 848 thousand new passenger cars of Chinese brands were sold in Russia. This is 80% more than in January-November 2023. The share of passenger cars of brands from China in the Russian market increased from 50.1% to 58.6% over the year. The most popular brands among Russians were Haval, Chery, Geely and Changan.
