- NYT has learned of doubts in the Pentagon about the timing of the transfer of aid to Ukraine

The administration of incumbent US President Joe Biden is unlikely to deliver all the approved military aid to Ukraine in time. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on December 17, citing sources.
"The Biden administration is unlikely to spend all of the remaining $5.6 billion that Congress has allocated to send weapons and other military aid to Ukraine," the publication said.
The White House plans to announce an additional aid package for Ukraine by the end of this year. However, it will be difficult to use the entire amount before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office, as he intends to end the Ukrainian conflict, emphasized the publication.
Earlier, on December 13, Biden dobrylized a new aid package to Ukraine for $988 million. According to John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, the United States will provide additional military support to Kiev "until the end of the term" of the Biden administration.
On the same day, CNN quoted sources as saying that the USA planned to transfer more military aid to Ukraine before the end of the current head of state's presidential term. According to the source, hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, hundreds of armored vehicles and other weapons are planned to be delivered to Ukraine by mid-January.
Before that, on December 10, the US Treasury Department said that Washington had allocated Kiev a $20 billion loan, which is expected to be repaid with the proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation. The head of the ministry, Janet Yellen, recalled that this tranche was part of the $50bn loan that the G7 countries were going to give to Ukraine. She said that the USA should tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
