Azerbaijan will welcome Russian investments in the restoration of Nagorno-Karabakh and the entry of Russian business into the region. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on December 18.

In an interview with VGTRK and RIA Novosti, he said that the first investments were made by Tatarstan: Aliyev and head of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov opened a KAMAZ service center in Jabrail district.

"So this was the first investment project, that is, the first foreign investment project was also Russian. So we are waiting for investments and contractors will also be welcome," the Azerbaijani president summarized.

Earlier, on October 23, the Armenian National Assembly ratified the provisions on delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan in the first reading. The document suggests that disputes between the republics will be resolved not by military means or force, but on a special platform.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted during the Yerevan Dialogue international conference in the Armenian capital that Russia played an important role in establishing a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Prior to that, on August 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Aliyev held narrow talks at the Zagulba residence. During the talks, the Russian leader noted that economic ties between the two states are successfully developing - in particular, trade turnover and direct investments in the economy of Azerbaijan reached $4 billion. He noted that Moscow and Baku have many areas for joint work, such as industrial cooperation, energy, transportation, logistics, light industry.
