NYT reported on Republicans' changing opinion of Kiev after Trump's victory

After Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, some members of the Republican Party have changed their opinion on the supply of arms by the United States to Ukraine. This was reported in The New York Times on December 18.
"In the weeks since Trump's election victory, some of the most ardent Republican supporters of funding the <military operation> in Ukraine have markedly changed their tone to match his [decisions] <... > it is in the interests of Kiev and Washington to end the <military operation> rather than continue writing checks that could prolong it," the piece noted.
According to the newspaper, among the Republicans revealed a marked decrease in enthusiasm for financing arms supplies to Ukraine.
Earlier, December 13, it became known that the United States plans to transfer more military aid to Ukraine before the end of the presidential term of the current head of state Joe Biden. According to the source, it is planned to deliver hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, hundreds of armored vehicles and other types of weapons to Ukraine by mid-January.
On December 10, the US Ministry of Finance said that Washington had granted Kiev a $20bn loan, which is expected to be repaid with the proceeds from frozen Russian assets. The head of the ministry, Janet Yellen, recalled that this tranche was part of the $50bn loan that the G7 countries were going to give to Ukraine. She said that the United States should tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
Before that, on December 4, it became known that the Trump team has three plans to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. One of them is the plan of President-elect Keith Kellogg's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, the second proposal came from Vice President-elect JD Vance, and the third was put forward by Richard Grenell, Trump's former acting intelligence chief.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
