There are no plans to introduce new programs of preferential mortgages at the federal level, Anatoly Aksakov, the head of the State Duma Committee on Finance, told Izvestia. He explained that in order for such programs to exist, it is necessary to allocate significant sums from the treasury. This money is used to compensate banks for low interest rates.

The budget is quite tight now, and there are no funds for such interest subsidies. However, the regions will be able to create their own, separate solutions, Anatoly Aksakov added.

"This is normal, because each subject of the Russian Federation has its own specifics and structure of personnel it needs. Based on this, the regions will be able to introduce separate programs of preferential mortgages and allocate funds in their budgets to subsidize the interest rate," the deputy said.

At the federal level there is now, for example, a family mortgage program.
