In Ukraine, the dollar to hryvnia exchange rate has reached a historic high

The National Bank of Ukraine has accelerated the devaluation of the hryvnya and the dollar exchange rate has reached a historic high. This was reported on December 17 by the Ukrainian edition "Strana.ua".

"The dollar - at 41.83 UAH/$. While last week ended at 41.66 UAH/$," - stated in the material of the publication.

It is specified that "speculators" tried to raise the price higher and put the currency for sale at the level of 41.92 UAH/$. At the same time, according to experts, the hryvnia will end 2024 at the level of 42.10 UAH/$.

Prior to that, on August 19, the expert said that the Ukrainian national currency may weaken to 43-45 UAH/$. He recalled that in mid-February 2022, the hryvnia-US dollar exchange rate was about 29.5. In his opinion, weakening is likely to continue.

Prior to that, on June 10, Rada MP Daniil Hetmantsev said in an interview with Telegraf that Ukraine was preparing proposals to raise taxes. He emphasized that the situation might even reach an unscheduled devaluation and hryvnya emission.
