Russian servicemen dropped leaflets on AFU positions in Kurakhovo

Servicemen of the Southern Group of Troops have scattered leaflets over the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic. The corresponding footage is at the disposal of Izvestiya.
The Southern grouping of troops has formed special units that use drones to scatter leaflets over enemy positions to help Ukrainian fighters survive.
"The armor left, the UAV calculations left, and we as mobilized were abandoned and turned off the radio. We discussed everything and decided to surrender to stay alive," said captured AFU serviceman Ivan Veselov.
Each drone carries about 400 leaflets, which fly around to the sounds of "lay down your arms voluntarily and go to the side of Russia, Russian soldiers are not your enemies."
"The last time we had a mass surrender, they gathered right behind the sounding drone and went in an organized manner. Well, the drone took them out to our fighters, who disarmed them, took them away, convoyed them. First you have to break the enemy and then you have to show him some ray of hope, how he can survive. That is exactly what these leaflets and audio are," explained a serviceman of the "South" group with the call sign Yastreb.
In order for such agitation to work, several combat drones or several shells are first launched in front of the drone with leaflets.
"Only after that such appeals are taken very seriously," - emphasized Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin.
According to him, surrendering is a rather complicated operation that requires clear actions according to instructions.
"You have to make sure that you are not killed by your own, that you are not destroyed by the enemy, to cross large shelled spaces, minefields and so on. And these leaflets contain instructions on how to do all this competently. There is a frequency, by going to which you can contact and get instructions, and this leaflet itself is such a document, a pass, which guarantees safety and preservation of life when surrendering", - specified Trushnin.
Earlier, on December 4, advisor to the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) Igor Kimakovsky said that the Russian Armed Forces had taken a large section of the Zaporozhye-Kurakhovo highway under fire control. According to Kimakovsky, the southern direction is working from the northern bank of the Kurakhovo reservoir in order to dislodge AFU fighters.
On December 14, the head of the press center of the Southern grouping of troops, Vadim Astafiev, said that the fighters of the troops had defeated seven brigades of the AFU, including near Kurakhovo. He indicated that up to 235 Ukrainian fighters had been wounded and killed.
Later, on December 15, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Russian Public Chamber's commission on sovereignty issues and co-chairman of the coordination council for the integration of new regions, reported the encirclement of a 700-strong AFU group near Kurakhovo. He noted that for the most part the AFU was counterattacking Russian troops west of Uspenovka to create space for the withdrawal of the group trapped in the cauldron.
On October 17, the Defense Ministry said that soldiers of the Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Southern Group of Forces broke through the defenses of the AFU militants at one of the frontline sites in Kurakhovo. Decisive assault actions of the Russian Armed Forces fighters allowed them to occupy a height near the settlement and prevent the AFU from regrouping. Thanks to training and competent combat operations, the Russian army soldiers were able to move forward and consolidate their positions within a few days.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
