According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the first nine months of 2024, almost 5.5 thousand crimes related to real estate transactions were committed, 60% of them - in large and especially large amounts. Since 2019, the number of such crimes in general has exceeded 40 thousand.

In recent years - from 2019 to 2024 - the number of convictions for fraud using a real estate donation agreement has almost doubled, by 96%. In the first 10 months of this year, the number of such convictions is up 10% compared to the full year 2023.

"The average proportion of real estate contract fraud convictions to total real estate fraud convictions is 23% over the same period. The gift contract is more vulnerable to fraudulent actions compared to other types of contracts," the study authors note.

The amount of damage from the actions of fraudsters is also increasing. At the end of 2024, the amount of damage is expected to reach 2.61 billion rubles, which is 21% higher than in 2023.
