A D-30 howitzer destroyed an AFU stronghold on the Kurakhov direction

A 122-millimeter towed D-30 howitzer of the separate Guards motorized rifle brigade of the Southern Group of Forces has destroyed a Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) stronghold in the Kurakhovskoye direction of the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 18.
It is reported that reconnaissance units with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) detected accumulations of AFU personnel. Target coordinates were transmitted to the artillery control point. Real-time correction of artillery fire from the air made it possible to inflict fire damage on the enemy's manpower.
"Without artillery there is nowhere to go! If the infantry begins to mop up further houses, we work first. We have to work it out so that we don't hit our own and let the infantry go on to mop up. It's all slow, but fast," said the gun commander with the call sign Ryzh.
Thus, artillery crews regularly provide fire cover for the actions of motorized rifle units, destroying planned and unplanned targets at a distance of over 15 kilometers.
Earlier, on December 13, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of objective control of the destruction of an AFU D-30 howitzer in Kharkiv region. The enemy gun was in a camouflaged firing position in a forest belt, but scouts discovered it. The Russian military destroyed the howitzer with an FPV drone strike.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
