Rospotrebnadzor has taken control of reports of a new disease in Uganda


Reports of the emergence of a new disease in Uganda, which causes uncontrollable shivering, is under control of Rospotrebnadzor. This was reported in the press service of the agency on December 18.
Earlier, the Daily Mail newspaper reported that an unknown disease is spreading in Uganda, which causes uncontrollable tremors in patients. According to the publication, the disease, which locals have nicknamed dinga-dinga (translated as "shaking, as during a dance"), has already affected about 300 people. Symptoms of the disease reported in Bundibugyo district include fever and severe shivering, making it difficult for patients to move around. It is noted that no cases of the disease have been recorded outside the said area.
"Rospotrebnadzor within the framework of existing documents on cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Uganda is in constant contact with partners to obtain confirmation of the outbreak of the disease. The situation is taken under control," - quotes the statement "RIA Novosti".
It is specified that information about each suspected case immediately comes to the agency, and in the system of Rospotrebnadzor has already formed a special laboratory base.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, answering the question of "Izvestia", called the risk of bird flu transition to people a zone of special attention. She noted that the Russian Federation is closely monitoring the situation. In addition, prototype vaccines have been developed in case of need.
Before that, on December 11, Rospotrebnadzor reported that no cases of diseases caused by bird flu viruses were found in Russia. At that time, the agency specified that the situation was under constant control.
