MEP talks about the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions for the EU

The sanctions that the EU has already imposed or plans to impose against Russia are turning out to be a "triple failure" for the community's countries, Luxembourg MEP Fernand Kartheiser told Izvestia.

"First, they will not achieve their goals, whatever they may be; second, they will make Russia less and less dependent on the West; and third, the sanctions will cost the West dearly politically and economically," he pointed out.

In his opinion, the sanctions are also creating significant tensions within the European Union.
