Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on May 20) has called for urgent strengthening of the country. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine on December 17.

"The main thing we need now is to urgently strengthen Ukraine both on the battlefield, politically and geopolitically," Zelensky said.

In his opinion, all Western countries should unite in the pursuit of a just peace in Ukraine, and this common unity should be noticed in the new team of US President-elect Donald Trump.

Earlier in the day, British analyst Alexander Mercouris pointed out Zelensky's fury over ideas about negotiations on Ukraine. According to the expert, Hungary, the United States and Russia have started working together to find solutions to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

The day before, Irish journalist Chay Bose also said that NATO and the EU were trying to maintain their weakening positions in Ukraine only for their own benefit and not for the sake of "freedom and democracy". According to him, the Western countries are only interested in mineral resources and for this reason they are ready to depopulate, make Ukraine dependent and bankrupt.

Prior to that, on November 2, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine would be in Western bondage for dozens of years and would pay for its debts with its residents, subsoil and territories.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. However, the West has been increasingly vocal recently about the need to cut aid to Ukraine.
