Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Tuesday, December 17, mocked the US State Department's claim of non-involvement in the terrorist attack in Moscow that killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces (RCBZ), as well as his aide.

"It is ridiculous to listen to those who created the Kiev regime, sponsor it, give it money and supply weapons uncontrollably," she told RIA Novosti.

She added that Washington has never condemned a single terrorist attack or planned assassination committed by the Kiev regime.

Earlier in the day, Zakharova pointed to the lack of Western reaction to the terrorist attack, except for statements by the Financial Times and the BBC. In her opinion, both publications act as a mouthpiece of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Igor Kirillov and his assistant were killed on the morning of December 17 when an explosive device was detonated in a scooter parked next to their entryway. The explosion occurred near a seven-story apartment building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. A criminal case on murder, terrorist act and illegal trafficking of weapons (Art. 105, Art. 205 and Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated on the fact of the incident.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also drew attention to the fact that Kirillov had been systematically exposing the crimes of the West for many years, working fearlessly and never hiding behind the backs of others. For his part, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for Ukraine's crimes, noted that the general cited evidence that was threatening and painful for Russia's adversaries.

The governor of the Kostroma region, Sergey Sitnikov, said that Kirillov had warned that he was being hunted. The head of the region linked this to the fact that the lieutenant general was leading an investigation into secret biological laboratories in Ukraine, among other places. Sitnikov is confident that Kirillov's murder will be solved and the perpetrators will be punished.
