The Russian government has set the amount of monetary remuneration to be paid to Russian athletes who won medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on December 17.
According to the document, gold medalists will receive Br4 million, silver medalists will be paid Br2.5 million, bronze medalists will receive Br1.7 million.
The only medalists of the Olympic Games (OI), who won silver in doubles, were tennis players Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider. Each athlete will receive Br2.5 million in prize money. A total of 15 Russian athletes competed in the Olympic Games in France in a neutral status.
Coaches of Russian tennis players will also receive rewards. They will be paid Br2 million each. Other specialists, who prepared athletes for the Games, will receive Br500 thousand each.
Earlier, December 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented state awards to the Russian medalists of the Paralympic Games in Paris. During the ceremony, he stated that the atmosphere of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris this year was far from festive, as the competitions lacked the principle of fair competition. He also pointed out that in addition to state awards, each medalist of the Paralympic Games in Paris will be paid additional bonuses of 3 million rubles.
