Do not download and install applications from links from unknown people. Up-to-date links should be taken only from official websites. At the same time, you should use anti-virus applications on your cell phone and computer, Russian banks told Izvestia, commenting on the mass spread of the Mamont mobile banking Trojan.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that before the New Year, hackers began to massively distribute the Mamont mobile banking trojan - under the guise of a parcel tracker. First, the buyer is lured into a phishing online store, through Telegram he makes an order at a favorable price with payment upon receipt. And to track the delivery, the person is asked to download a tracker, under which the malware lies, Kaspersky Lab said. It intercepts SMS and push notifications, with the help of which fraudsters can, for example, steal users' funds via SMS banking.

"The risk of such a scheme is that fraudsters can gain access both to personal offices of various sites and to RBS (remote banking. - Ed.) banks, and thus perform actions on behalf of the user. The main rules of protection are not to download and install applications using links from unknown people. Up-to-date links should be taken only from official sites. Also use an antivirus with anti-phishing functionality", - noted in the press service of Post Bank.

They also recommended to read carefully what permissions the application requires when installing.

The press service of Zenith Bank specified that such mechanisms of malware distribution are not something new. They emphasized that it is always important to be able to correctly assess the integrity of the opposite party to a transaction.

"In remote communication channels, the risks of abuse grow manifold due to anonymity or the possibility of the opposite party falsifying its identity, which makes it difficult to find and bring the attacker to justice. The advice is simple - do not believe any special promotional offers from unknown or, on the contrary, popular stores, which were placed not on the official sites of stores on the Internet," - emphasized there.

The credit organization added that if it is necessary to make a purchase, you should use mechanisms to protect the transaction, which are offered by well-known marketplaces with a reputation of a reliable partner.

"Do not follow links in chat rooms with unknown people, do not install any applications on your computer or phone from websites rather than from the official app store. Use anti-virus applications on your cell phone and computer," Zenith Bank concluded.

Earlier, on December 8, the Garda group of companies reported that in Telegram there are growing cases of fraud with the creation of fake doppelganger accounts. It was noted that profiles can look identical to those belonging to friends, colleagues and relatives.
