- An expert assessed the scheme of scammers offering to earn money for likes

On the Web, one should be vigilant and not respond to vacancies with the promise of easy and quick money, advised Daria Koshkina, head of the Solar AURA external digital threat monitoring service, Solar Group of Companies. She commented to Izvestia on December 18 on the new fraud scheme and gave several recommendations to Russians.
In the middle of this month it was reported that scammers began to deceive Russians, offering them to earn money for likes. Attackers can have several variants of deception. In the first case, after completing the task, they ask users to provide payment details of the card to accrue rewards, and eventually steal the money. In the second variant, after the money is credited for likes, scammers may ask users to provide them with their phone number and SMS code to confirm their identity. As a result, they can steal the Telegram account.
"The phrase that "free cheese only in a mousetrap" is as old as the world, but this does not cancel its relevance - this applies to this scheme. The conditions of easy earnings for the placement of likes do not look realistic. Also, if you are asked to buy something, promising to return the money with interest, - this is unconditional evidence of fraudsters' actions", - said Koshkina.
At the same time, the expert recommended not to provide personal data, including logins and passwords from social networks and messengers, as well as two-factor authentication codes on suspicious and unofficial websites, and in conversation with strangers. According to her, you should use only official resources and check their exact address through a search engine. You should also use antivirus software for additional protection against malware and phishing attacks.
Earlier, on November 17, Evgeny Pankov, project manager of the .RU/.RF domain coordination center, told Izvestia that there is a steady increase in phishing attacks conducted via messengers, especially Telegram and WhatsApp (owned by Meta, whose activities are banned in Russia). According to him, 2,374 domains imitating Telegram were blocked in Runet in the first 10 months of this year, and 1,036 domains imitating the second messenger were blocked.
