Russian Armed Forces drones destroyed a cluster of AFU fighters in Kursk region

The drone operators of the "North" group of troops have destroyed an accumulation of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region with the help of drones. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 17.

"By means of aerial reconnaissance of one of the units of the grouping of troops "North" in Kharkov region was detected an accumulation of the AFU's manpower. After analyzing the intelligence received, a decision was made to fire on the enemy's living force in the shelter," the ministry said in a statement.

The operator of the combat drone of the Russian group of troops controlled the drone equipped with an ammunition dumping system. After waiting for the best moment, the operator destroyed the Ukrainian militants with a precise hit. Objective control means obtained in real time showed that the target was successfully hit.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Army aviation crews on Ka-52M helicopters, acting in a mixed tactical group, disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the Kursk border area. The pilots fired missiles at Ukrainian fighters and their armored vehicles and destroyed the enemy. Having accomplished the combat mission, the helicopters released heat traps to protect themselves from being hit by the AFU's man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) missiles.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
