- Moscow became the leader of the rating by accessibility of services among 10 world megacities

Moscow has topped the rating "Availability of services in the world's cities", bypassing such large megacities as New York, London, Berlin and Singapore. This was reported in the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow on December 18.
The rating was compiled by researchers of the consulting company CNP and experts in the field of urbanistics. The cities were evaluated by territorial and financial availability of 25 types of services for the population related to 11 main spheres of urban life, necessary to ensure comfortable living in megacities.
The capital of the Russian Federation took the first place in the availability of medical, housing and communal services and communication services, such as cellular communication and the Internet, and also entered the top three in the availability of transportation services, services in education, sports, culture and entertainment. In the final consolidated rating Moscow took the first place.
At the same time, the service sector as a whole is the basis of the economy of the Russian capital: it accounts for about 85 percent of the city's economy.
"Constant improvement of the quality and availability of services is one of the priorities of the Moscow government. Much attention is paid to the development of the sector of services for the population - both state and municipal, and the commercial sector. For ten months of the current year, the turnover of Moscow companies and organizations providing paid services to the population exceeded 3.3 trillion rubles," said Maria Bagreeva, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Head of the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow.
According to her, compared to the same period of 2023, this indicator increased in comparable prices by more than 9%.
At the same time, she emphasized that the increase in the availability of services is facilitated by the active development of the city's territories, construction of new social, sports and cultural infrastructure, creation and reconstruction of public spaces, implementation of urban planning projects aimed at the development of the service sector in residential areas of the city. In addition, the construction of road and transport infrastructure, the development of the subway, the launch of new routes of land and river public transport are of great importance.
Earlier, on September 18, it became known that Moscow took the ninth place among the world's cities in the rating of innovation attractiveness. According to this indicator, the Russian capital was ahead of Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Madrid and Milan, among others. As experts noted, the city took this position due to its high positions in technological development, creative industries and urban environment.
