Basmanny court of Moscow has extended the arrest of former deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry Timur Ivanov for three months - until March 23, 2025, who is accused of taking a bribe on a large scale. This was reported by the Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom on December 17.
The defense filed a motion for mitigation of the preventive measure, asking the court to choose a non-custodial option.
The arrest of Ivanov's defendant, businessman Sergei Borodin, was extended for the same period of time. The session was held in closed mode.
Earlier in the day, the court extended the arrest of Ivanov's property, also for three months. According to the ruling, which was familiarized by "Izvestia", the former deputy minister distributed the stolen funds to the accounts of his parents, as well as former and current wives.
Ivanov's detention became known on April 23. The next day he was arrested. Ivanov is accused of taking a bribe in the amount of Br1.185 billion. According to the investigation, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors working at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and signed contracts with them in exchange for illegal personal remuneration. On June 20, he was dismissed from his post. A friend of the former deputy minister, Sergei Borodin, and co-founder of Olimpsitistroy LLC, Alexander Fomin, were also taken into custody as part of the criminal case.
Among the arrested assets of the former deputy minister are accounts, real estate, two cars and a motorcycle, including a Chevrolet Suburban. In addition, in April, the apartment of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Defense was searched.
In addition, September 24, it was reported about the arrest of Ivanov' s mansion near Moscow, where they found a large amount of money, and these funds were recognized as illegally obtained. The former deputy minister was charged with receiving bribes for preferences in the construction of three cadet corps. The damage to the state amounted to more than Br2.18 billion. September 28, the term of the investigation of Ivanov's case was extended until December 23, 2024.
Later, on October 5, it was reported that the case of the former deputy head of the Defense Ministry involves a cadet corps in Tver. The former deputy minister received a bribe for the conclusion of favorable conditions for Olimpsitistroy during construction.
