Russia is collecting new data on Kiev's war crimes against civilians in the town of Selidovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR); the information will be transferred to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, told Izvestia on December 17.

"We will need a full-fledged investigation into all the facts. <...> They give open testimony about it with all the data, details, which we are now transferring to the Investigative Committee. And we very much hope for a detailed, large-scale investigation of everything that happened in Selidovo," he said.

The diplomat called the reports that Ukrainian militants harassed local residents before the liberation of the settlement true. According to Miroshnik, similar testimony was given by residents of liberated Avdeevka.

"They threatened the population, and in the last days of their stay, before they left the city, <...> there was an order, there was an installation of civilians who remain in the city to destroy," Miroshnik added.

The Russian military liberated Selidovo in late October. The town is located about 40 kilometers northwest of Donetsk and was of important strategic importance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

After its liberation, Miroshnyk said that Kiev wanted to repeat in Selidovo the provocation in Bucha and promised that the Russian Foreign Ministry would provide international organizations with data on the shooting of civilians in the town.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
