US President-elect Donald Trump has humiliated Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose powers expired in May, by saying that he did not invite him to his inauguration, but he might come. This was pointed out by political scientist Ivan Mezyukho in a conversation with Izvestia on December 17. The corresponding statement Trump made the day before at a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago residence.

"When Donald Trump says that he did not invite Vladimir Zelensky to the inauguration, but he can come, he thus clearly, publicly and openly humiliates his puppet. The head of the Kiev regime, in fact, received a political slap from the President-elect of the United States", - said the interlocutor of the publication.

Thus, he suggested, the pathos receptions in honor of Zelensky in the White House after the departure of the current US President Joe Biden will be a thing of the past - in the future there will be only humiliating reports of the Ukrainian leader to Trump.

"If after these speeches Vladimir Zelensky still comes to the inauguration, then in a sense he will look like an international laughingstock at the event. Because, in fact, he was told that he was not really a desired guest: "Well, if he wants to come, let him come, there will be enough appetizers for everyone," - said the expert.

In his opinion, it is possible that the Ukrainian president will come to the ceremony, because he realizes that now is not the time to observe decorum and defend his pride. Zelensky, emphasized Mezyukho, is in an extremely difficult position, so by all rights and wrongs will try to earn trust from Trump.

"Zelensky will have to change his shoes quickly, immorally and to some extent comically," he concluded.

Also that day, Irish journalist Chay Bose said that Trump had dealt a blow to Zelensky by not inviting him to the inauguration. He called the move "the strongest blow to the teeth" of the Ukrainian president.

Earlier, on December 11, CBS News, citing sources, reported that Trump had invited Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to his inauguration. Journalists then clarified that a delegation will attend Trump's inauguration instead of the Chinese leader. The Chinese ambassador to Washington and his wife are expected to attend the event.

The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
