In a number of people, lifestyle adjustments, the use of home remedies and changes in daily habits can help reduce the severity of symptoms and prevent the progression of varicose veins, as well as help prevent and alleviate the course of thrombosis. Konstantin Budanov, a phlebologist and vascular surgeon at INVITRO North-West, told Izvestia on December 18 about the difference between varicose veins and thrombosis, as well as the prevention of these diseases.

"Varicosis is a disease in which the walls of veins thin out. This leads to impaired blood pressure and chaotic distribution of blood through the vessels, while thrombosis is an inflammatory disease in which blood flow is impaired and vessels are clogged with blood clots," Budanov notes.

According to him, the symptoms of these diseases have certain similarities: in both cases, the legs often feel tired, swollen and become painful. The causes also overlap in many ways, including heredity, lack of physical activity, high-calorie diet, overweight, as well as excessive smoking and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

For some people, lifestyle adjustments, use of home remedies and changes in habits can reduce the intensity of symptoms and prevent varicose veins from worsening, such as regular exercise, according to the specialist. Swimming brings positive effects and gently relaxes the body. At the same time, you should be careful about lifting weights and weightlifting, as this can create additional risks for the blood vessels. It is also recommended to avoid prolonged sitting or standing, small ten-minute breaks for a walk or light physical activity can be beneficial.

In addition, the expert recommends doing exercises to prevent varicose veins, such as leg raises. To do this, you should lie on your back and lift your legs for about 15 minutes. Another effective exercise is stretching: you need to lie on the floor, bend your legs at the knees, pressing the feet to the floor, then slowly reach out with your hands to your knees, pulling away from the floor only the upper back.

Earlier, on November 26, doctor-phlebologist of the clinic "Crede Experto" Daniel Chikishev told "Izvestia" about the causes of varicose veins. According to him, if the patient has a hereditary anamnesis, the disease usually manifests itself by the age of 40, but if you do not observe simple rules of prevention, the pathology can manifest itself earlier.
